Twelve months too soon.

I never really thought this day would come. I mean, inevitably, yes, I did...but I just thought it was a lot further off than it really was. Last year at this time, I was praying to go into labor. And that next morning, I did. And on April 4, 2007 at 3:19 PM, I was blessed with the MOST beautiful, healthy baby girl I have ever encountered. She has been my shining star and my pride and joy ever since. Not to mention, my best friend. It's kind of crazy to think that, but just like I know everything about her, she knows the same about me. She may not realize it, but she does and I am proud of that. In a crazy sort of way, she reminds me of myself and the relationship I have with my mother. I have always been very close with my Mom, through the hard times (I wasn't necessarily the most pleasant to be around in high school - I blame it on being a hormonal teenager) and all of the good times (going to college, getting my first "real" job, getting married, having a baby). Not only has Lily taught Kevin and I the true meaning of life, but she has really put our lives into perspective. It isn't about me anymore and for the first time in my entire life (I can honestly say that!) I am proud that my daughter comes before any of us. It's all about her and that's exactly how my family raised me. They put my needs and most of my wants before theirs and that's the type of parents we wanted to be...and the type we are.

I hope one day she fully understands how much we love her. For the past twelve months, she has blessed us everyday...with another smile, a snotty kiss, or a new found love for something random (Kevin's cell phone charger is her new favorite). She makes us so happy and we can't wait for many more birthday's with our little angel.

Her birthday party is Saturday...so I'll definitely post some pictures as soon as possible. I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend! :)
