Father's Day Fun!

I'll be honest. I spent the day before Mother's Day at the spa.  Getting pampered. Relaxing. Yes, I was away from my children. But, I needed it.  The alone time. A few straight hours of uninterrupted, dowhateveriwanttodowithoutanyoneelseneedingme time. No one hanging on my leg, no emails to answers, no phone ringing.

My husband, however, had a different plan for Father's Day. :) He wanted to go to the zoo.  When he told me about his grand idea on Friday evening, I'm not sure he remembered that Sunday was Father's Day. He sometimes forgets that his athletic, adventure-loving self married someone like me. Although I love anything fun with our family, taking five kids anywhere is hard work...but the zoo seemed a little crazy! I was out of breath just thinking about taking our crew there. But, I'm so glad we did...they absolutely loved it.  The girls' talked and yelled at all of the animals...Lily Kate and Landon squealed with excitement when they would spot each animal at every exhibit...and we bought a $60 hot dog lunch that no one actually ate. (They preferred all of the snacks we brought!) We just chalked it up to money spent on making memories and laughed about it as we pulled into the Cook Out drive through on the way home. The hot dogs just weren't that good, folks.

Clearly, we have different ways of celebrating parenthood. ;)

We made it! I have no idea where she get's her personality from.

Mom, take my picture on the monkey!

Loving the giraffes and zebras.

Yelling for the animals to come see them.

Not too sure what to think about this zoo stuff!

I still haven't seen the chimpanzee, Mom.

The creepy zookeeper. They weren't fans.

This cracked me up.

Happy boy.

This sign was about elephants, but fitting for the girls. :)

Showing me which places we had already been.

Father of five. We could have been our own exhibit.

Our tour guide, Miss Lily Kate.

Trying to figure where we should go next.

The whole fam.

Trying to get a photo with everyone looking or not rubbing their eyes...

...is just hard. :)

She's mad he won't sit by her for the picture. He is being a typical boy.

Should I go ahead and buy the boy a dockside shirt and some boat shoes to match his croakies and sunglasses!?! ;) He is pretty darn cute, though.

The girls. Not happening, Mom.
