Oh, yes...It's true! Landon got hand, mouth, and foot disease from God knows where (I can count one hand how many places we go each week...so who knows!?). He had a really high fever beginning on Wednesday, followed by very painful mouth blisters on Thursday morning. By Thursday afternoon (after I had already made an appointment to see the pediatrician), he was covered from head to toe with tiny red dots. I had already diagnosed him myself, but since we already had the appointment and I had no previous experience treating it, I figured it would be best for us to see the doctor. She confirmed my diagnosis and off we were to Walgreens for Maalox and Benydryl! It got a lot worse and is slowly getting better and because he doesn't have the fever anymore, he is not contagious. I wouldn't say we're all out of the woods, but I'm sure hoping so!
Hand (more like arms/hands), mouth (yes, he has blisters coating his mouth and they look extremely painful), and foot (they should just say whole body disease!) or not, my boy is a happy ray of sunshine. And so is his big sister. It's been hard to keep them away from each other and hard for a two-year-old to understand why she can't touch anything her brother does. "Baby go to doctor, Mommy?"....She reminds me every few minutes that we had to take Landon to the doctor. And I'm pretty sure she was excited that it was him and not her.
Despite his moments of pain and misery, I was able to catch a few of my pair. Lily can always make him smile.
