Life Happens

Life has been happening at super rapid speed lately. Mostly fun occurrences, but we've taken a few falls (or should I say Landon has) and ended up in the ER. I now know how my Mom felt my entire life when she said I never stopped talking. I now have one of my own. You know, a talker that never takes a breath. One that asks a million questions and demands a responsible answer. If you try to answer with a half-hearted response, she quickly says "No it's not!" And although I would pay a lot of money for a mute button at times, her witty, smarty-pants, intuitive remarks remind me how innocent and full of life she is.

Landon will probably give me a stroke before his second birthday. He scales the outside of the stairs (the wooden edges) in a matter of seconds, has unwrapped my perfectly positioned ribbon that's wrapped around my Christmas tree, or swinging the chandelier around while sitting in the middle of the dining room table. Yes, my husband is guilty for teaching him to climb, hoping he has his athletic ability and agility. I certainly don't think he thought this through, though. You see, his seemingly invincible body and scared-of-nothing outlook on life is enough to make anyone have a heart attack. Let alone his mother! Sunday morning was no different when he was jumping on Lily's bed with her. I could hear them and see them while laying in bed...but didn't realize what they were doing. The next thing I hear is Lily yelling, "He's bleeding! Landon's bleeding!"...so Kevin and I make a leap over to her room to find Landon laying in his on blood on Lily's bed. He only cried for a minute or two and as I was trying to figure out whether he had knocked his teeth out or not, Kevin got something to soak up the blood. I soon realized that what was in his lip was not his tooth, but rather a piece of wood from the chair rail in Lily's room. I knew he needed stitches so we put our half-put together selves in the car and went as fast as possible. In the meantime, Landon's lip was swelling by the second!

Trying to keep a 17-month old entertained in the ER was not very fun. The doctor gave me the choice of putting him in a straight jacket and giving him three stitches or leaving it alone because it was not torn through the white part of the lip, which could leave his lip healing lopsided. He said we ran the risk of Landon chewing the stiches out or pulling them out if they irritated him...so the choice was up to me. I opted not to get the stitches in hopes that the scar tissue goes away and his lip regenerates at a rapid speed! When we got back in the car, Kevin said to Landon, "Thank God we had already taken our Christmas picture or your Mommy would have been even more upset!"...Very true! ;) He is one tough cookie!

He has been such a trooper and certainly loved all of the sugar free popsicles he got that day! And so did Lily! :)

Enjoy the bloopers of our Christmas card pictures...I don't want to even think about next year! ;)

I hear ya sista! Sam is next in line for cirque du soleil. Where did you find those adorable outfits for your Christmas cards?

I got their outfits from the Patsy Aiken outlet and got them monogrammed at Crabtree. Lily had a bow on her's but it was too much with the monogramming, so I cut it off. :)
