Memories of Us

I'm not very mobile anymore. (I can't imagine why...I'm only 21 weeks pregnant with triplets!) It's actually a lot harder to deal with than I thought because mentally I'm fine (okay, well...you know what I mean), but physically I'm not. I'm carrying three babies who are taking every ounce of energy I have and building their sweet little selves. So, when I was planning Landon's second birthday party (oh, you know...three months ago!) I kept telling Kevin that I didn't think I would be able to do very much. I suggested we have his party somewhere else (besides our house) but we with his birthday being on July 17, the choices are limited. So I settled for our house with a promise from Kevin that he would not let me stress out and would be a huge help (as if he isn't already).

Landon's birthday started with the sweetest "Mama" I've ever heard. He got up pretty early (7 am) and came and laid in bed with us. I sang Happy Birthday to him and he lit up like the stars in the sky. He knew something was different about this day, but didn't quite know what! We let him open a few small presents and he just beamed with pride. He was slowly figuring out what this day meant.

But, before we could get ready for his party, we would all be attending Lily's first dance class. Although she was very excited about going, she was aprehensive because she didn't really know what it meant. Sure, she got to hold the streamers (like she saw the girls doing on the website) but what else? I got her ready in her leotard and tights and off we all went to Destiny Dance Institute. She was grinning like she had just won a million dollars. They walked into the studio room one at a time and were asked their names. She shyly replied. There are only 5 girls in the class and all of them were as precious as three year olds can get. Ms. Patty is their teacher and to watch my girl through the window at dance class was one of the most awesome experiences ever. It wasn't a one way mirror, so she could see me, too. She would look at me and smile and wave...trying to tell me something. I would just say, "Okay!" so she knew I was listening. It was an incredible feeling to watch her prance across the studio floor, like I loved to do so many years ago. She certainly has my charisma, to say the least!

After Landon woke up from his nap, I was excited to put him in his new button down plaid shirt that matched his eyes. In all of his two years of life, he has never protested a piece of clothing - ever. He could care less. But, wouldn't you know, he cried "Off!" for twenty minutes (after a million attempts to get his mind off of it) and wanted his new shirt off. I couldn't figure out why, but finally realized that it was the buttons. It was a soft cotton button down shirt, but he never wears anything more than a polo-type shirt, so he did NOT like the buttons. I even asked Kevin if he would go change his shirt to show him it's okay to have buttons down your shirt. I was hysterical laughing (while Landon was crying!) when I walked upstairs to find Kevin in a button down plaid shirt (with similar colors!) trying to coax his son into leaving the shirt on. As we laughed until we cried, I finally said forget it, and he wore a cute polo shirt. He was much happier and our birthday pictures would not be filled with red faces and teary eyes over a dang shirt! What's even funnier? He wore two different outfits during his party (a whole two hours long!) because he peed on himself twice in one hour! He goes about 4 or 5 days without accidents, but is one of those who truly doesn't care if he pees on himself or not (he does not like poop in his underwear, so he always makes it to the toilet for that one!). So, as he was opening presents and everyone was watching him, he peed on the rug. A few minutes later, he did the same thing! I don't know if he was just overly excited or I just wasn't paying attention to how long it had been since he peed, but I laughed and we changed him into his third outfit of the day. So, as you can see from the pictures of his party, he is wearing two different outfits, none of which were what I had bought for him. Oh, that is just life, I guess! :)

He had so much fun playing and eating pizza with his friends and his Daddy did an AWESOME job of icing the tractor cake (which by the way, I will never make again...unless Kevin agrees to ice it!). It was delicious (I made homemade icing!) but the actual process of icing the cake took dang near forever! Landon's big present was his John Deere Gator, which we brought inside because it was raining. He was shocked and wondered why in the world it was inside! :) He loves it and drives it all over the yard and down the sidewalk. He is still working on the steering part, though! ;)

To our sweet Landon: Two years ago, I could not have imagined loving someone as much as I did Lily. You proved me wrong and I love you more with every day that passes. We love your tender heart and strong will and hope you never lose those characteristics. We have watched you grow from a tough, chunky baby into a little boy who isn't afraid of anything. You are protective of your sister and always want your Mommy. You jump for joy at the door when Daddy gets home from work because it means you get to wrestle! You don't like to go too far from Lily and we love that you are the best of friends. You still love any type of sports, but your Daddy has certainly been playing a lot of soccer with you! You can drop kick the ball and it's so funny to see such a young boy do that. You love jumping off the side of the pool by yourself with no one to catch you. And although, it gave me a heart attack at first, Kevin reassured me that you were fine. And you are. :) You love to swim at the pool and often get put in time out for running and jumping off the side. I'm just waiting for the lifeguard to blow his whistle at you for running! You are just getting too big, too quick!

You are talking a lot more and the sweetness of your voice makes me one proud Mama! You are shy at times, but with a little reassurance, you open up to people and make new friends. I'd say you have a little bit of me in you. ;) We were shocked to realize that you were ready to be potty trained a month before you turned two and you have been wearing big boy underwear ever since! I could have sworn you would be wearing Pull Ups in kindergarten but I guess you just wanted to be like your big sister! We are so proud of you!

I hope you know how much you are loved and how blessed we are to be your parents. You are going to be such a great big brother to "baby" (even though there are three, you call them "baby") and we look forward to watching you continue to grow into a bright, handsome young man. We love you! :)
