Significant to Me

Every time I sit down to write a post about what we have been doing lately, I have writer's block. Or I start writing something, then delete it. Is what goes on in my life really that exciting to others? Probably not. But, my sole purpose in starting this blog was to try and capture details about our lives so that we (especially the kids) can look back and read all about what life was really like.

The daily lessons of love and patience.
The frustrating moments that remind me I'm only human.
The 375 trips per day to the potty.
Lily begging "Lay with me, Mom" and me agreeing just because I love the way she strokes my face when she's tired.
Landon falling asleep smiling in my arms as I sing "You Are My Sunshine" to him over and over.
The footsteps and laughs that constantly echo throughout the house.
The chaos/stress/fun that accompanies one baby on my hip and one trying to "swim" while wading through the water at the pool.
My early morning wishes that my son would sleep in like the rest of us would like to.
The sense of wholeness and completion I feel when Kevin gets home from work.
The daydreams I have about having more children and where our family will be in one, two, or three more years.
The sadness that comes along with my baby turning one.
The proudness that overcomes me when I think of my family.
The emptiness I feel when I think about my family and how I wish so badly they lived closer.
The unexplained times that bring tears of joy to my eyes...

These moments are what make up my life. This is what I should be writing about. This is what is significant to me.

The day before July 4th at a neighborhood cookout. She LOVED the fireworks!

Landon, on the other hand, did not. But, he sure is cute when he cries!

After the July 4th cookout at the pool (you can tell his Daddy only halfway redressed him...plaid bathing suit and a striped polo!?) He liked the fireworks the second time around...

Lily talking about how much she loves the "fry-woks".

Couldn't have said it more perfectly :) Your kids are lucky to have a Mommy that loves them so much and it shows in your writing! I love the pictures and Lily's hair is precious - I can't believe how long it has gotten.
